Now that I've had a trial run, I figure it's time to expose you to Meg on camera. This was my second Midweek Round-up for our twice-weekly Video News show. Giving reports to a camera is still a little awkward for me, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I think it's just one of those things that takes time.
I also didn't realize how different broadcast writing can be. I've been splitting up the writing for Video News with Marc and Bernice this week and I'm feeling out how to write like I talk. On my first try my leads were three lines long, and Marc pointed out how difficult that would be to read to camera without looking down at the paper (which looks bad). He's a great teacher and I feel like I'm improving already.
Soon I'll be doing some video reporting out in the field, which I'm looking forward to. And, once the Olympics start, we'll be recording video news daily to keep people updated on scores and events throughout the Games.
